Myths of yoga…

Yoga is girly. Yeah, it’s usually more women than men in class, but it’s definitely not just for women. I wouldn’t expect to see men in a prenatal class, but other than that, why the hell not. Hold yourself up in a correct Virabhadrasana (Warrior) II for 5 min and see how that feels

Yoga is only for flexible people. Not flexible = not a problem. That’s a benefit of yoga not a prerequisite.

Yoga is a religion. Yoga is boring. etc. etc. etc.

Nervous? Try out a beginner’s course and remember it is your practice, do what you can and accept that you did what you could and you are putting in the effort of getting to know yourself and your body in a new way.

Also using props is a great way to get into a pose, or deepen your practice. And there are always easier modifications for everything, don’t be afraid to ask for one!

I picked up fundamentals classes at Divine Power Yoga, , yesterday and tonight at 6PM. It’s a good class to work on your basics and get the foundation needed to start your yoga practice.
