Start of the Weekend

Blog post #3.

The music was different in my class last night and I could definitely feel the difference. I played more mellow songs and there was a different sort of energy. Longer holding the postures and slower movements between poses and step backs instead of a sun salutation (Chaturanga, Urdhva Mukha, to Adho Mukha Svanasana).

It ended up working out well because the heat was higher than usual. So the slow movements and the deeper stretching that the heat promoted was perfect. I read the optimal body temperature for best fitness performance is around 101 degrees (depending on the person), so when the heat is raised around you it brings you to that level quicker, but the movements needs to be slowed because you don’t want to create a higher core temperature then that because it can become dangerous. But it worked for us because we were able to sweat out some toxins and really apperciate savasana at the end!

On another note, Erin, Mallory, and I are heading to NYC to go to the Jivamukti ( and Om Factory ( studios. The first class is a open jivamukti yoga, which I’ve been wanting to do for a while now, and the second is the anti-gravity class. Here is a taste of it…

I will let you know how it goes!
